Professional Experience
Dan Wood is an accomplished professional with an extensive background in transmission system planning and engineering. Since 1975 Mr. Wood has worked for all sectors of the electric utility industry and has a thorough understanding of the transmission issues and concerns of regulators, independent power producers, investor-owned utilities and publicly owned utilities.
In March of 1992, Mr. Wood started Utility System Efficiencies, Inc. (USE) to assist clients that have limited transmission and system planning capabilities. As the name implies, USE focuses on achieving technical, economic and environmental efficiencies of utility systems. USE has grown into the most prominent power systems analytical company in the West with over 100 clients in North America.
Mr. Wood was listed with the Western Regional Transmission Association (WRTA), as a “Best Qualified” resource for dispute resolution on transmission issues. Mr. Wood was also a technical consultant on the team for Mediation Training for members of WRTA, the Southwest Regional Transmission Association and the Northwest Regional Transmission Association. Mr. Wood has worked on transmission system and generation interconnection studies for projects in every major area of the Western Electricity Coordinating Council, including Canada and Mexico. Mr. Wood also has extensive experience in analyzing electromagnetic fields in underground and overhead transmission lines and substations.
